Holidays versus Plans

This is just going to be a quick post, not at all because of the title...I swear. Anyhow, odds are you have plans for your game. Odds are your players have plans for your game. Odds are, some of those plans involve having your game. Unfortunately over the next few weeks - and having already started if you are Jewish - we have a lot of holidays, including New Years.

I know this is impacting my game schedule. It is probably hitting yours as well. If not, maybe double check your calendar just to be sure.

That said, there isn't much you can do about this. Except for plan. And prepare for your plans to occasionally be delayed.

Oh, there is one other thing. Two really.

First: The holidays, the end of the year, is a busy and super stressful time for a lot of people. If you're the GM, don't take it personally if Players can't follow what is going on in the game as well from session to session as normal. It doesn't mean you're doing a bad job. It doesn't mean your players don't care. I mean, in theory it could mean that, but odds are not the case. So cut them some slack and be a little forgiving with the recap rules to help folks out. And Players, give your GM some slack if they're a bit off. Times are busy. People are even busier. Keeping track of a whole fantasy world, while also keeping track of a hectic real world, is hard.

Second: Take care of yourselves. The holidays are rough emotionally. People get super down and out of it. Take care of yourselves. Take care of your friends. If someone in your group seems down/off, make sure they're ok. The sun will be back in a couple months. Until then, hold the line and care for yourself.
