Discussion - Favorite Song To Plan To?

Just a quick question for today. Do you listen to music when you plan your games? If so, what do you like to listen to? Easy listening? Classical? Heavy metal? 80s bubble gum pop?

For me, when I do listen to music while planning, it'll depend on the game. Then again, I'm one of those people who will try to set up a playlist for a game, or just naturally find songs that make me think about the game. This can be as easy as classical japanese music for L5R to the Tron soundtrack for a more sci-fi type game.

How about you?

  1. Personally, I just listen to music, preferring techno over anything else. Music is just background noise to cancel out the mental noise so I can focus on what I'm working on.

  2. When I'm planning a fantasy-style adventure I tend to listen to movie soundtracks. My favorites are Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves (crap movie, good music), the Lord of the Rings Soundtrack (from any/all of the movies) and the Army of Darkness Soundtrack.

When planning Star Wars (my go-to game), I (duh) like to listen to the Star Wars soundtrack.
