Quick Fix: Experimental Pricing

So, just how much should a game PDF cost? How much do you want to pay for one? Honestly, I'm not sure. It would depend on the content, and my own interest in it. I'd be more willing to pay more for something I knew was quality, or was relevant to my current gaming interests than not. Still, the fine folks over at 6D6 Fireball are going to be running an experiment starting next week. What are they doing?

Well, I'll let them explain it themselves. So, why not head on over to this link here, and check it out. Maybe it will pique your interest.

  1. My thought is that RPG players are less worried about cost and more concerned about how much mental capital they have to spend on a game. Hit them at the right time (got nothing going on) and they have plenty. Hit them with a world (setting) they already are familiar with and a new system isn't that big a deal.

A new setting and a new system takes a lot of mental capital and you have to get just the right people to take an interest. If you can do that, players will pay for the system. If they really like it, they'll pay more than $100 for it. Usually if they're interested they'll pay $20-30.
