One Year Anniversary

While, technically, yesterday was the one year anniversary of this blog. I figured I'd celebrate the first birthday today. Why? Well, for one it is Friday, for two I like keeping Crime 101 going on Tues/Thurs, and for three, why not? Now, I'd love to give numbers and stats for the site for the past year, but there is a slight problem with that. See, I didn't get Google Analytics, or any form of traffic tracking, up and running on the blog until late May/Early June. This means that all the numbers I have are only for the last half of the year. That being said, looking at the numbers, the year was a lot more impressive than I had originally thought.

For example, since June, and at the actual time of writing, the site is just 3 hits shy of cracking 10,000 page views. That isn't super successful by some standards, but considering I'm a late comer to the RPG blog game, am not an industry professional, and have no idea how to actually market this site, and it's not bad. Even taking those numbers over the course of the year (as in, if 10,000 hits was the total for the year) that is about 28 people checking out this site per day. Which, considering I "only" have 24 followers from that link on the right side of the page, means that others are reading.

Top traffic source? Easily RPGBloggers.com, they were added to the site even later than Google Analytics and are leading the traffic sources with nearly 33% of my traffic. The rest coming from people doing direct connections to here, blogger.com itself, links from twitter, and the occasional google search. Oh, random fun fact? I've had more visitors from India than from Russia.

Finally, and bringing us back to the topic of RPGs. The most popular - according to unique page views - articles from the past year? Or at least six months...

#1: Rewarding Game Investment

#2: Premature Ejaculation (of a Story/Campaign!)

#3: Wasting Combat Rounds

#4: Where Video Games Beat Table Top

#5: Too Many Tokens

Anyhow, the site is paid up for another year, and hopefully I can keep it going throughout then. Next year should have even better, and more accurate, numbers as I'll at least have the whole year to go off of. As a final note, I'd like to thank everyone whose stopped by over the past year and contributed. I've greatly enjoyed the comments, and discussions we've had. Even if we haven't always agreed on what was the best way to handle something.

Oh, and for those curious. The 6th was the birthday, as that is when this blog started over at livejournal. All those posts can be found here now, but for those curious, the original link was http://artofgaming.livejournal.com.
