Goals for 2011

I said at the beginning of the week that I'd be doing at least one of these, and New Year's Eve is as good a time as any. Now, I'm not talking about resolutions or anything, so don't feel any particular pressure on anything you say here, but what do you want to accomplish - particularly gaming wise - in the new year? I'll start below to get things rolling.

First, I want to get better at role playing NPCs. I tend to get flustered, and thus over-summarize what is going on with NPCs. Switching from NPC to NPC, or when two or more NPCs have to be involved in the same scene, it just gets weird for me. So I'm going to be making an effort to get better at this, to show not tell what is going on. I am also going to make this same effort with my PCs, to actually try and bring their emotion a bit more overtly to the table instead of falling into my usual "me, playing this character".

Second, I want to continue and see how long I can go with running one of my current games without a large over-arcing metaplot in place. Really, I'd like the game to end because the players want to move on, not because we've reached the end of the useful stuff in the world. Characters can change, sure, but the game in general I'd like to try and go for something a bit longer with.

Third, I need to finish M.A|C.C and get it out there. This is less 'play' related, but is gaming related. The rules themselves are set, it is just the setting material - slowed down further by school - that is holding it up before moving on to having an actual product, and I need to get down to that and get it done.

So, what about you? What are your gaming related goals for 2011?

  2. This year was a little slow for game sessions. Everyone was busy, still, I turned out a sourcebook that I've been bashing my head against for five years so thats great! This year I want to turn out another that's maybe half to quarter done already.
